ACTION/ADVENTURE
Characterised by having a greater emphasis on exciting action sequences than on character development or story-telling, the action genre is known to bring thrills.

Drama, while seen as overdone to some, is a great hit with others. It is usually seen as the more serious genre when compared to the others.

HISTORICAL
Writing about past events can be difficult because you have to know enough details to make it work, yet not enough to be writing a non-fiction piece.

HORROR
Horror fiction is a genre that we put fear-invoking stories into. Stories that reveal the true ugly of the world, bring out the "bump in the night" creatures, drag a reader through painful suspense—they go here.

HUMOR
We all know what humor is, right? Hopefully. If you don't, then, well... Anyway, the trick isn't knowing what it is, the trick is being able to write humorous stories and stick them here for the world to read.

Your story doesn't fit into any of the categories? Put it here! (: If the staff sees that there are many stories of the same, unlisted genre being added here, they'll make a sub-board for it and move the stories.

ROMANCE
The romance genre seems to be booming lately (or maybe that's just at my house XD). Everywhere you go, you can find Nora Roberts and Fern Michaels on the shelves. Stephenie Meyer, too, now that the Twilight saga has been unleashed on the world.

SCIENCE FICTION
Please, do not mistake this for fantasy fiction. Science fiction, while close to fantasy fiction, is totally different. The Free Dictionary defines it as "a literary or cinematic genre in which fantasy, typically based on speculative scientific discoveries or developments, environmental changes, space travel, or life on other planets, forms part of the plot or background".
